At Danville Veterinary Hospital, we offer a variety of services to care for your pet. If you have any questions or would like more information on how we can care for your pet, please contact us today.
Anesthesia
Procedures done on dogs and cats are challenging for a variety of reasons, one being that they often don’t want to be still while doctors and staff are trying to help the animal. They also have a level of stress that comes from being in an unfamiliar environment. Because of this, the use of anesthesia is a beneficial way to give pets the care they need. The use of anesthesia is safe, and we are expertly trained in administering it and caring for patients that are under.
Behavioral Counseling & Medications
Pets with behavioral problems can often pose a frustrating challenge for pet owners. However, through behavioral consultations we can correct unwanted behaviors and enrich both your life and your pets’ life.
Chiropractic Adjustments
Chiropractors use adjustments to restore joint function and support the nervous system. They help patients maintain optimal health while avoiding the use of medications or surgery. These adjustments have a goal of restoring normal range of motion in the joint. They can help relieve physical stress, chemical stress or emotional stress.
Cold Laser Therapy
Cold Laser is a state-of-the-art alternative therapy to assist with pain and healing. It can be used after surgeries to help increase blood flow to local areas, improving healing. It can also be used for chronic pain, helping to increase blood flow to those areas. Ask your pets’ veterinarian how your pet would benefit from our Cold Laser Therapy. Please contact us today if you have any questions or would like to learn more about how we care for your pet.
Dental Care
Dental care is vital to the overall health of any pet. Dental disease can lead to health issues with the heart, liver, and kidneys, and can affect the entire body through the bloodstream. In fact, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats over three years of age suffer from some form of dental disease, making it the most common pet health issue among our pet population. In spite of these disturbing facts, many pet owners are not aware of the importance of dental care to their pets’ health. There are a lot of different ways to improve your pets’ dental hygiene, including home brushing, dental chews, and regular inspection. The most effective way to protect your pet from dental disease is through professional cleanings. We perform thorough cleanings here at Danville Veterinary Hospital, including the area beneath the gums that you can’t see or access at home.
Diagnostics
Our hospital provides a wide variety of in-house diagnostic testing with the most state of the art technology available. It is our goal to provide your pet with the highest level of care possible, and our diagnostic tools help us do that.
Emergency & Urgent Care
When you have animals, emergencies happen. While Danville Veterinary Hospital is here to help, in many cases, we will often refer you to our specialty and emergency partners. Unfortunately, we do not offer after-hours or weekend emergency care and will need you to call us in advance if you have a pet in need. Please contact IndyVet at (317) 782-4484, MedVet at (317) 872-8387, or Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care West at (317) 491-1900. They are all 24-hour emergency facilities prepared to help when we cannot.
Euthanasia
We know how hard it is to say goodbye to your pets. Making the decision is emotionally and mentally draining. However, we want you to know you are not alone. Our entire staff is here to do anything we can to make the whole process easier on you. It is our goal to treat all pets and their owners with compassion and understanding when the latter are faced with making this difficult decision. We will talk you through the decision and are here for you when the time comes to euthanize your animals.
Exams and Consultations
Our staff will get a chance to talk to you and see if you are having any trouble with your pet. We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible. Then, one of our veterinarians will do a complete physical examination on your pet. It is always good to have a baseline in case your pet ever becomes ill. We also want to monitor your pet’s weight, ensuring that your pet stays a healthy weight. It is much easier to start a diet when a pet is a pound overweight instead of fifteen! Our veterinarian will also look for any potential problems. Our goal is to catch any problems before they become major ones. The sooner that we are able to catch a problem, the easier it is to treat it and the more likely that your pet will make a full recovery!
Geriatric Care
Preventative medicine is important when our pets are young, but as our pets age, and become prone to certain disease processes, annual exams and blood work become even more critical. Annual exams and blood work to check liver and kidney values, along with thyroid function have the potential to alert us to early changes that may give us valuable information about your pet’s’ health. We understand the changes your pet will have as they become older, and we also know the importance of keeping your pet healthy as they enter their golden years.
Laboratory
Danville Veterinary Hospital is pleased to have a laboratory in our hospital. We are very proud of our laboratory. We are able to perform many diagnostic tests quickly and efficiently in it. We can do many simple tests but are also able to offer some more complex ones, too! We are able to run heartworm tests, leukemia and FIV tests, and full blood work for those who are interested in it. There are also many other tests we offer our patients. The best part of being able to run laboratory tests in our hospital is that we can diagnose your pets much sooner than if we had to send the blood work out to another laboratory. Whenever your pets are not feeling well, we can offer you results and a diagnosis in minutes instead of making you wait a day (or more) for the results. Knowing what is wrong with your pets quickly allows us to start treatment sooner so they can get back to normal as soon as possible. We will do everything we can to make your pets as comfortable as possible. We pride ourselves on helping pets as fast as possible! If your pets are sick, we would love to be able to give you answers much sooner than you might expect. We make it our goal to get your pets feeling better as quickly as we can.
Microchipping
At Danville Veterinary Hospital, we are happy to offer microchipping. Every year, thousands and thousands of pets go missing. Not knowing where your pet is or how to bring them back can be a helpless, hopeless feeling. It’s a tragedy that happens all too often. But there is a simple, safe, and effective way to ensure your pet’s’ safety and retrieval should they ever become lost. Microchipping is a standard procedure that implants a tiny chip underneath your pets’ fur. It is a painless and relatively fast procedure and is completely safe. This microchip is registered with your pets’ vital information and can be scanned by any veterinarian or animal shelter so that they can return your pet directly to you. Save yourself the heartache and stress of a lost pet. Microchips bring pets home.
Nutritional Counseling
Obesity is a common problem among pets, as it can be easy to over-feed a pet that knows how to beg. But being overweight is a serious problem for animals, and can cause real health problems as they get older. With proper diet and exercise, all pets should be able to meet their dietary needs and be within a healthy weight range. Pets’ nutritional needs change as they enter different stages of their lives. The best way to make sure your pet’s needs are being met is to consult with us about a diet made specifically for his or her lifestyle.
Pain Management
Pain is a terrible thing. Danville Veterinary Hospital wants to alleviate as much pain and discomfort for our patients as possible. To bring you the highest quality care, we are dedicated to providing top notch pain management. When our pets are in pain, so are we. It is an awful feeling to know that your special friend is hurting, especially when there isn’t anything you can do to help them. It is our goal to eliminate as much pain as possible and to give these pets a better quality of life. We also anticipate and plan for procedures with the potential for future pain. In addition, we work with pet owners to educate them on how to recognize signs of pain in your pet.

Preventative Medicine
Regular checkups allow us to establish a baseline in your pet’s health and make us aware of any changes that may indicate future problems. We highly recommend bringing your pet in for regular exams. Often times health problems that go undetected can become more serious issues when left untreated, so checkups are important even when your pet appears healthy.
Radiology
At Danville Veterinary Hospital in Danville, IN, we are proud to be on the cutting edge of medical technology. Radiology is a technique and diagnostic tool that we use to look inside the body in an entirely non-invasive way. X-rays allow us to create images of all the body’s organs. In other words, the use of radiology gives us a view of the internal organs in your pets’ body that we otherwise could not see. It is a valuable diagnostic tool that helps veterinarians detect and prevent illness. The use of radiology is safe, and our entire staff is highly trained. It is our goal to provide your pet with the highest level of medical care possible, and this is just one of the many ways we achieve that.
Surgery
We believe in utilizing the highest level of medical technology, and our surgeons are experienced and highly trained. We also realize that it can be stressful to have your pet undergo surgery. We want to assure you that your pet is in good hands, and that we will do everything to provide the best care possible. We will communicate with you about the things you need to know before, during, and after your pet’s surgery. It is our goal to make the entire process go smoothly, and to eliminate the stress and worry of surgical procedures.
Vaccinations
There are a variety of diseases which affect our pets and other animals. This makes proper vaccination vital in protecting them from the many types of illnesses they are susceptible to. It’s important to consult with us about the unique risks of living in our region. We will be happy to discuss the benefits of protecting your pet with vaccinations, as well as, provide you with information on the required vaccinations for your pet.
